Terry Fox Walk for Cancer Research

St. Andrew CES Annual Terry Fox Walk

Terry Fox started training and planning for a cross-Canada run to raise funds for cancer research in 1980.  On April 12th, 1980, Terry dipped his artificial leg in the Atlantic Ocean, and proceeded to inspire and unite Canada by running a marathon a day.  But cancer returned in his lungs and he was forced to stop on September 1st, 1980 after having run 5,373 kilometers. On June 28th, 1981 Terry died…but his dream lived on.

We are asking that Families donate a loonie $1, or a toonie $2 if they are able, starting on Tuesday, September 24th. Students are asked to please make sure they bring their donations to school and to  give them to their teacher. Our Annual Terry Fox Walk will be taking place on Friday, October 4th with a rain date scheduled for Monday, October 7th. Thank you to all of you for your generosity and to the staff and students of “St. Andrew CES” for your enthusiasm and hard work towards this great cause. The

Terry Fox Foundation also thanks you and wants you to know that Terry would be proud!!!
