The following Catholic School Council Members will be vying for positions on this year’s Executive Committee. The election will be held during the first meeting on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at 7:00 pm.
Sandra De Pasquale – (Secretary)
Claudia Umbrello – (Treasurer)
Daniela Castagna – (Chair)
As the 2020-2021 Co-Chair of the St. Andrew CSC it has been a rewarding experience over the last 11 years to be able to contribute alongside the Principal, Staff and other CSC members of St. Andrew to provide a positive and engaging school environment by organizing and promoting various social events and fundraising activities. Although this school year may look different due to COVID-19 restrictions, we as a collective parent council can continue to support various school initiatives and collaborate with the school community to ensure a successful academic school year. I look forward to the opportunity to continue as an executive member of the St. Andrew Catholic School Council.
Jennifer Rashty – (Chair)
I have been Chair and involved in St. Andrew CSC for 8 years now. I believe that being involved in my children’s school is an important part of their education. My full time job day includes planning events and working with the Vaughan community to support local businesses and charities. I feel that I can be a great asset to the school and to this wonderful group of individuals.
Tom Sfetkopoulos – (Chair)
Hello, my name is Tom Sfetkopoulos, and I have made the decision to run for Chair of the St. Andrew Catholic School Parent Council. I have lived in the community for fifteen years, along with my wife Sandra and my two boys who attend St Andrew CES. I have built my career in retail, starting with 20 years at Longos – a locally owned independent retailer who has roots in Vaughan and am proud of the contributions that we were able to make to the local community. I have played various leadership and participation roles supporting many vital causes including Breakfast Clubs of Canada, Food Bank of Canada and Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer along with many others. I have made the decision to pursue the Chair because I truly believe that St. Andrew is a unique school, with a very special base of families in the community which has provided both a learning and social environment that creates opportunities and lifts our children up to become outstanding young individuals. With an engaged and involved parent council, we can further facilitate and grow the relationship between the church, school and community by actively listening to our parents and children – nurturing a safe and inclusive environment to guide our children as they grow into young adults. I believe that it is important to provide open and transparent access to all parents to have a voice at the table, so that we can collectively and collaboratively work with the excellent team of educators at St. Andrew in making it a model school where our children are reaching their peak potential. It is important that as parents we are giving that support both at home and through the Council so that our school has all the tools and support they need to help develop our kids both mentally and in their relationship with God. After the unprecedented events of the last 18 months, we are at a key inflection point where our main focus has to be on our children, bringing back the sense of belonging and normalcy to their day to day lives and making St. Andrew a fun and exciting place for our kids. Our primary focus for the coming year will be to bring back that fun, social element and allow our kids to be kids. I look forward to working with all of you in the coming year!
